Scheme under the Official Languages Act

The Official Languages Act 2003

The Official Languages Act 2003 was signed into law on 14th of July 2003. The primary objective of the Act is to ensure the improved provision of public services through the Irish language. It requires public bodies to prepare a scheme detailing the services that they will provide through the medium of:

  • Irish
  • English
  • Both Irish and English

The Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General’s Irish Language scheme is published in accordance with the Official Languages Act 2003 and it requires the publication in English and Irish of the audited appropriation accounts of government departments and offices and the Report on the Accounts of the Public Services.
